Dewan Hernandez is still possible to play for UM this season. The University of Miami junior striker, Council of Hernandez, hopes he can return to the team this season after missing 13 matches, looking for recovery from the NCAA, according to his lawyer.
Hernandez has been excluded from all matches this season while schools and the NCAA are reviewing their feasibility after their names appeared in court documents related to defendant Christian Dawkins, an agent runner involved in FBI investigations on campus basketball. Dawkins has written in an email his plan to pay Hernandez every month for his second year. Although no contract was signed, the NCAA decided, after being asked by UM to clarify the rules of eligibility and possible violations, that Hernandez had committed a violation, which would jeopardize its feasibility.
"The NCAA's interpretation, which is not supported by records, has resulted in the Council not meeting the requirements," Setchen said. "However, with university support, the Council is seeking a recovery by the NCAA this season. I remain optimistic that the NCAA will do what is fair. The board has suffered a penalty that is heavier than it should be by skipping 13 matches."

Dewan Hernandez still play in Miami.
UM did not agree with the findings, and appealed to the membership committee, which agreed with the initial NCAA decision. The school has the option to appeal again or say Hernandez is not eligible and is seeking recovery from the NCAA, according to NCAA spokesman Stacey Osburn. Hernandez chose to seek recovery, according to his lawyer, Jason Setchen."The NCAA's interpretation, which is not supported by records, has resulted in the Council not meeting the requirements," Setchen said.
