Miami International Airport Spends $1.45 Billion to Repair Over the Next Three Years. Miami International Airport will begin a short-term increase of $1.45 billion over the next three years, in a project known as the Terminal Optimization Program.
Some improvements will include post-security links between the E and F Concourse, the new hardstand and the apron area, and other projects designed to increase efficiency.
To fund a short-term development program, the airport will sell bonds worth $760 million as early as 2019.
Ahead of bond sales, credit rating agency Moody's revised MIA's outlook to be positive from stable, citing better than expected traffic and revenue growth and lower than expected costs per enplanement.
MIA is the largest US gateway for Latin America and the Caribbean, the third largest planned international passenger airport and number one cargo airport in the US, said the Moody report.
